| Since discovering fashion during her adolescent years in the 80's, Vanessa started feeling a desire to become involved in the industry. She had dreams of becoming a big name designer, but the closest she got to it was a short stint as a teen model. Then, as the college years crept up, she discovered a sincere and genuine interest in Psychology, majored in it, got a graduate degree, and went on to have an exciting and fulfilling career in the field for over 9 years. It was after the birth of her second daughter when Vanessa decided to stay at home with her girls. After almost two wonderful years of full time "mommy mode", she was feeling the need for an outlet to release some pent up creative juices. With the support and encouragement of her husband, Jonas, Vanessa took the plunge to fulfill that long, not so lost dream of designing. Relishing in motherhood and babies, she decided to venture into sewing baby blankets that were unique, and reflected her love of modern style. She came up with the name LillaBoo because she wanted the name to have sentimental value. Lilla means "little" in Swedish and Boo is short for one of the many nicknames she used for her two daughters. After designing and making several baby blankets as gifts for Christmas and baby showers, the feedback Vanessa received encouraged her to make her first big order for fabrics. She then decided to expand the collection to include other functional items that every parent should have. That's when the idea of the Bag-A-Diaper emerged. After having been guilty of stuffing handbags with diapers, wipes and a changing pad, she desperately wanted a little bag to hold just enough diapers, wipes and a changing pad for a long day trip out or quick errands. After several prototypes, Vanessa came up with the Bag-A-Diaper. "Made for Trendy Babies", each item designed features bold, interesting, modern and "un-babyish" prints and are made to be simple, yet functional for both baby and parent. |
